The 5 Grand, "the Queen of the Skies", tail number 337716 was the 5,000th Boeing
B-17G to roll out of the factory in Seattle, Washington. During her glorious World
War II career, she completed 78 combat missions over Germany. This page is dedicated to
the memory of John B. MacBride, a member of the original "bachelor" crew who picked
up the 5 Grand in Nebraska and flew it on its maiden voyage to England.
